Love Without Borders: Gia & Rodrigo’s Story
Some love stories unfold in fairytale castles, others in crowded cities...but Gia and Rodrigo’s began during one of the most uncertain times in recent memory: the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. And yet, their story is proof that even in isolation, love has its way of bringing people together.
Gia, originally from the Philippines, and Rodrigo, from Brazil, were both living in the Bournemouth/Poole area with no family nearby. Life had them on similar paths -independent, far from home, and quietly navigating a world turned upside down. In 2021, in the midst of all that, they found each other… on Tinder.
They officially became a couple in March 2021, and from everything I’ve learned about them, it was effortless from the beginning. Their connection transcended cultural differences. Their personalities, temperaments, and visions for the future aligned in such a natural way, it was like two puzzle pieces finally finding their match.

The Proposal
Rodrigo proposed in the most thoughtful and sincere way... during Gia’s birthday month, October 2024. He cooked his signature dish, carbonara, and after dinner, surprised her with a photo album filled with memories from their time together. As Gia flipped through the pages of their shared life, Rodrigo told her he wanted to remember every moment leading up to now… because he was ready for what came next... marriage! It was intimate, heartfelt, and absolutely them.

Though miles apart from their roots, family remained central to their story. Before meeting in person, Gia and Rodrigo had already introduced each other to their families over video calls. Eventually, they traveled together - first to Brazil, then to the Philippines, spending two full weeks in each place. The warmth and welcome they received from both sides was instant. Their love wasn’t just about two people, it was about two families coming together across continents.
Knowing It Was Right
Gia and Rodrigo often say that it was all just so easy. And that’s perhaps the most beautiful part. Love, when it’s right, doesn’t have to be complicated. It just fits. And theirs did from day one.
Gia and Rodrigo’s story is one of quiet strength, gentle love, and the kind of connection that bridges distance and difference. From different countries, through a pandemic, and now into a growing family - their love story is a reminder that sometimes, the best things in life arrive exactly when we need them most.
